First two episodes of “Stranger Things: Tales From ’85” hit select theaters April 18, ahead of Netflix debut, with special fan screenings.

Fans of Stranger Things are getting a theatrical treat.
The first two episodes of the animated spinoff, “Stranger Things: Tales From ’85,” will screen in select cinemas on April 18, ahead of its global streaming debut. Ticket sales open Wednesday at 8 a.m. PT.
The special screenings are being rolled out in partnership with AMC Theatres, with showtimes scheduled at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. local time across 34 U.S. locations. Additional screenings will take place at Paris Theater in New York and at Netflix House Philadelphia, offering fans an expanded opportunity to experience the series on the big screen.
Attendees in the U.S. will also receive a limited-edition collectible tied to the event.
Netflix has previously experimented with theatrical releases for its high-profile titles. Earlier this year, the first two episodes of One Piece Season 2 were screened in theaters on March 10.
The streamer also brought the “Stranger Things” series finale to cinemas in December, signaling a growing interest in event-style premieres.
“Tales From ’85” will officially premiere worldwide on Netflix on April 23. The animated series is showrun by Eric Robles, with The Duffer Brothers serving as executive producers.
Set during the winter of 1985, the story unfolds in a snow-covered Hawkins as the threat from the Upside Down appears to be fading. Familiar characters — Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas and Max — begin returning to normal life.
But beneath the frozen surface, a new and dangerous mystery starts to emerge, putting the town at risk once again.
The spinoff draws inspiration from the alleged Montauk Project, as well as 1980s classics like Back to the Future and The Goonies, while incorporating horror elements reminiscent of Stephen King.
Behind the scenes, the production reportedly auditioned 1,213 children, and the character of Steve Harrington — initially written with a different arc — was ultimately kept alive due to his popularity.
The voice cast includes Jeremy Jordan as Steve Harrington, Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Elisha EJ Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Benjamin Plessala as Will and Brett Gipson as Hopper.
The project is produced by the Duffer Brothers, Robles, Hilary Leavitt, Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen.
Fans can find more details, including participating locations, through AMC Theatres’ official website.
