Authorities say they are still trying to locate actor-director Timothy Busfield after an arrest warrant prompted federal help.

Three days after an arrest warrant was issued for actor and television director Timothy Busfield, federal authorities have joined local police in an effort to find him, as his whereabouts remain unknown.
The Albuquerque Police Department (APD) confirmed to PEOPLE that it is now working alongside the U.S. Marshals Service to locate Busfield, 68, following allegations outlined in a recently issued warrant. As of the latest update, police say he has not yet been located or taken into custody.
“Not that I am aware,” an APD spokesperson told PEOPLE when asked whether Busfield had been detained or arrested.
According to the warrant obtained by PEOPLE, Busfield is accused of engaging in unlawful sexual conduct involving 11-year-old twin boys. One of the minors allegedly told investigators that the inappropriate behavior began when he was 7 years old. The identities of the children have not been made public.
The investigation reportedly began in November 2024 after a doctor at the University of New Mexico Hospital contacted authorities with concerns about possible sexual abuse. The children’s parents later told police that their sons, both child actors, met Busfield while working on the FOX television series The Cleaning Lady, where Busfield served as a director.
The parents said they were advised by an attorney to seek medical and psychological evaluations. According to the warrant, professionals suggested the children may have been groomed. At that time, authorities reportedly determined the case did not meet the criteria for further action.
In October 2025, the children’s mother filed a new police report and contacted Child Protective Services, stating that both boys disclosed alleged sexual abuse spanning from November 2022 through spring 2024. The warrant notes she was initially told that without physical evidence, no action could be taken.
Busfield has denied wrongdoing, according to the warrant, and allegedly told investigators that the parents were upset after their children were replaced by a younger actor. He later learned that Warner Bros. was reviewing a complaint connected to the allegations.
Busfield is married to actress Melissa Gilbert, whom he wed in 2013. Weeks before the warrant was issued, Gilbert shared a social media post reflecting on her own childhood acting experiences and speaking broadly about child protection, without referencing her husband or the allegations.
The U.S. Marshals Service has not publicly commented as the search continues.
