Ray J responds to Kim Kardashian’s defamation suit, arguing his remarks won’t hurt her law dreams and saying she hasn’t passed the bar yet.
Ray J is pushing back hard against Kim Kardashian’s claim that his public comments could damage her future legal career, telling a court that she has bigger hurdles to clear before worrying about him.
In new filings tied to their ongoing legal battle, Ray J argues that Kardashian’s concerns about passing a moral character review with the California State Bar are premature.
He points out that she has not yet passed the bar exam — a required step before any background investigation would even matter.
“For this ever to be an issue, Kardashian must first pass the bar exam, something she admittedly has not yet done,” Ray J said in the court documents.
The dispute stems from a defamation lawsuit filed by Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, in October. They allege Ray J made false statements suggesting they were being investigated by federal authorities.
Kardashian previously stated that the California State Bar conducts a thorough moral character review, including looking into allegations of criminal misconduct, before granting a law license.
She said she feared those claims — which she calls entirely false — could be taken seriously.
Jenner also strongly denied the allegations in her own declaration, calling them “a horrific lie.”
Ray J, however, says Kardashian’s worries are misplaced. He argues that vague remarks made during an interview and on a Twitch stream would not jeopardize anyone’s legal future.
If there were consequences, he suggests, they would come from actual wrongdoing — something he claims has not been directly denied in certain court filings.
In addition to fighting the defamation claims, Ray J has filed a countersuit. He alleges Kardashian and Jenner violated a previous settlement agreement that barred all parties from discussing the infamous sex tape.
He is asking the court to dismiss their lawsuit.
Both cases remain active, and Kardashian has not publicly responded to Ray J’s latest claims.
