Madonna’s Coachella Costumes Go Missing: “These Aren’t Just Clothes, They Are Part of My History”

Madonna‘s triumphant Coachella 2026 comeback has taken a troubling turn. The pop superstar revealed Monday via Instagram Stories that the vintage costumes she wore during her April 17 surprise appearance alongside Sabrina Carpenter have disappeared.

“This full circle moment hit different until I discovered that the vintage pieces that I wore went missing — my costume that was pulled from my personal archives — jacket, corset, dress and all other garments,” Madonna wrote.

The missing items include a light purple corset, a dark purple Gucci jacket, and additional archival pieces from the same era — the very same lavender corset and boots Madonna wore during her landmark 2006 Coachella performance.

Madonna’s longtime manager Guy Oseary told Variety that the Coachella collaboration was entirely Madonna and Carpenter’s own idea. “Madonna told me that she and Sabrina talked about it,” he said. “It was not my idea. It was a brilliant idea, and I think the core of it is what was shown last night — which is love.”

Reflecting on the night, Oseary added, “I don’t think my feet touched the ground. It was so beautiful. I loved seeing the joy that she had. It was emotional. It was a really special night — and it was our 20th Coachella anniversary.”

Amid swirling speculation about a future tour, Oseary took to Instagram to clarify his earlier remarks: “Of course she will tour again. She wants to share her music with her fans. Not sure yet the plans. Stay Tuned.”

Confessions II is set for a July 3 release date. Co-created with producer Stuart Price, the album presents dance as a spiritual practice. It will mark Madonna’s first studio album since 2019’s Madame X and serves as a sequel to her critically acclaimed 2005 record Confessions on a Dance Floor.

Coachella Weekend 2 — which featured surprise appearances from Madonna, SZA, Billie Eilish, and Peso Pluma — generated significantly more buzz than Weekend 1.

Carpenter took to Instagram the following day, writing that sharing the stage with Madonna was “a privilege I’ll never forget,” calling their “Like a Prayer” duet a “dream.”

Madonna has urged anyone with information to contact her team at Infomaverick2026@gmail.com, and has offered a reward for the items’ safe return.

Industry experts note that archival costumes of this significance — pulled directly from a pop legend’s personal collection — can fetch hundreds of thousands of dollars at auction.

The investigation remains ongoing.
