Netflix has dropped the first official image from Season 3 of its record-breaking series “Wednesday” — and this time, Wednesday Addams is trading Nevermore Academy’s gothic corridors for the streets of Paris.
The photo, released Monday on social media, shows star Jenna Ortega standing beside a motorcycle under the Eiffel Tower, her signature deadpan expression firmly intact. Thing (Victor Dorobantu), the sentient disembodied hand and key Addams family ally, perches atop the motorcycle as Wednesday holds a piece of paper and stares into the distance. Netflix captioned the image with characteristic restraint: “From Paris, with dread.”
This creative shift is more than a location change. It signals Netflix’s deliberate push to reposition “Wednesday” as a long-running global tentpole — expanding both its international audience footprint and downstream merchandise and licensing revenue.
Season 2 closed with Wednesday and Thing riding off in Uncle Fester’s (Fred Armisen) motorcycle sidecar in search of Enid (Emma Myers) — Wednesday’s werewolf roommate who became stuck in wolf form and fled into the wilderness. The Paris setting in Season 3 appears connected to that search, though Netflix has not released official plot details.

Eva Green joins the cast as Aunt Ophelia — a Raven like Wednesday who was believed missing. Season 2’s finale revealed that Grandmama Hester Frump (Joanna Lumley) had been keeping Ophelia hidden away, and Wednesday’s psychic connection with her aunt was strengthened through an old diary and book of visions.
Production is actively rolling through Europe, having begun in February. Joining Green are Winona Ryder, Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy, James Lance, Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan, and Kennedy Moyer in undisclosed roles.
Returning cast includes Ortega, Myers, and Armisen, alongside Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Georgie Farmer, Isaac Ordonez, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Luis Guzmán, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Joanna Lumley.
The Paris shoot features Ortega back in her iconic black-and-white threads — now with bangs — sharing scenes with Armisen, with Tim Burton directing alongside cinematographer PJ Dillon.
The series is based on characters created by Charles Addams. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar serve as showrunners, with Tim Burton directing and executive producing alongside both. MGM Television remains the studio.
Showrunners Gough and Millar addressed the fanbase directly in a statement: “To the fans, we appreciate your patience and ravenous online commentary — your twisted theories have inspired nightmares. This season, we welcome new students, new teachers, and excavate some long-rotting Addams Family secrets. Don’t say you weren’t warned.”
Tim Burton added: “I’m so excited to be back for Season 3, and it’s great to be reunited with all of the original cast.”
Season 1 of “Wednesday” became the most-watched English-language series in Netflix history, logging 1.7 billion viewing hours in its first 28 days. Season 2 led all television in the second half of 2025.
A release date has not been confirmed, with a mid-2027 return currently anticipated given the scale of international production.
