“Apocalypto” star Rudy Youngblood was arrested in Texas on a felony drug charge, adding to recent legal troubles as he awaits court steps now
Rudy Youngblood, the actor who rose to international attention for his breakout role in Mel Gibson’s 2006 epic Apocalypto, was arrested Thursday in Texas on a felony drug charge, TMZ confirms.
According to law enforcement records, Youngblood was taken into custody on a warrant issued in Bell County a day earlier. He is currently being held at the Henderson County jail on a charge of possession of a controlled substance in an amount between one and four grams.
Under Texas law, the offense is considered a felony and carries a possible sentence of up to two years in prison, along with a potential fine of $10,000.
As of Friday morning, Youngblood remained in custody. Authorities have not yet released additional details surrounding the arrest, and attempts to reach the arresting agency for comment have so far gone unanswered.
The latest incident comes amid a string of legal issues for the 42-year-old actor. In October 2025, Youngblood was arrested on allegations of assault involving a family or household member, with the charge citing impeding breathing or circulation.
That case marked a significant development in his recent personal struggles.
Earlier in his life, Youngblood also faced a disorderly intoxication arrest in Miami in 2017, though those charges were later dropped.
Despite his off-screen challenges, Youngblood has continued to work steadily in film and television. In addition to his memorable portrayal of Jaguar Paw in Apocalypto, he has appeared in projects such as Dandelion Season (2021) and the 2023 horror film The Haunting of Hell Hole Mine.
He was also cast last year in the period drama La Matadora and is attached to several upcoming projects.
Youngblood has previously spoken about the difficulties of navigating fame at a young age, particularly after the intense success of Apocalypto.
For now, his focus appears to be on addressing his legal matters as they move through the court system.
