“The Hunting Wives” star Brittany Snow is sharing something fans might not expect: she’s actually pretty shy in real life.
During an exclusive interview with People at Disney’s first-ever “Toast to Television” event on Monday, the actress got candid about her personality off-screen.
The 40-year-old actress said she always tries to find personal connections with the characters she plays. When it comes to Sophie O’Neil, that connection came naturally.
“Sometimes I’m a little shy and I want to break out of that shell,” Snow shared. “Margo brings out the part of Sophie that can say anything, do anything, and live completely freely — and that’s why I relate to her.”
Snow made it clear that her shyness isn’t just a small personality quirk — it’s something that has shaped her public image and career.

“People sometimes assume things about me, but really I’m just in my head and kind of shy,” she explained. “I don’t know how to overcome it. If anyone has advice, please let me know.”
This isn’t new for Snow. Before landing her breakout role in “Pitch Perfect,” she took nearly two years off from acting to focus on managing her anxiety. At the time, she wasn’t even sure she would return to the industry.
“I’m naturally a nervous person, and acting isn’t always the most supportive environment for that — especially when it comes to auditions,” she previously shared. “There was a point where I thought I might never work again because I had to restart my career. But that time was so important — it helped me figure out who I am.”
Snow also revealed that her inner struggles affected major career decisions. In an interview with Modern Luxury in February 2026, she said there were years when her own internal dialogue kept her from even going to auditions.
“I would unknowingly sabotage myself,” she admitted.
She also turned down several major roles in her 20s because she felt they weren’t good for her mental health. “My health had to come first,” she said.
After years of ups and downs, Snow says she’s finally in a better place.
“Prioritizing mental health is everything. It’s the only reason I’m able to work today,” she explained. “When I’m more present, I can trust my instincts and actually enjoy the process.”
Season 1 of “The Hunting Wives” is now streaming on Netflix.
