Actress Christina Applegate, best known for Dead to Me and Married… with Children, took to Instagram Monday to reassure her millions of fans that she is doing okay — and that she’ll be fully back soon.
According to TMZ‘s report, Applegate was admitted to an L.A. hospital in late March. However, the reason for her hospitalization and the length of her stay have not been made public. Her rep declined to comment on the matter but did add:
“She’s had a long history of complicated medical conditions that she has been refreshingly open about, as evidenced in her memoir and on her podcast.”
This is not the first time Christina Applegate has been hospitalized. In a detailed 2025 interview with InStyle magazine, she revealed that since her MS diagnosis, she has been hospitalized more than 30 times.
In that interview, Applegate opened up about how severely the disease affects her daily life. She also wrote in her memoir — “When I wake up, I often can’t get my arm to move far enough to grab the cup of water by my bed.” According to her, the hardest part of MS is the exhaustion — a kind of exhaustion that words can’t fully describe.
That same 2025 InStyle interview came at a time when Applegate was preparing to write her memoir “You With the Sad Eyes” — and she said that writing the book had been a kind of therapy for her. The interview drew attention from both Hollywood and the medical community, because an A-list actress being this publicly open about her illness is considered extraordinary in the industry.

On Monday, the actress posted a photo on Instagram of her book “You With the Sad Eyes” alongside a mug that reads “Kissy Kissy.” In the caption, she wrote:
“I’m a strong chick and I’m getting stronger and better every day. I’m taking a moment to focus on my health, but I’ll be back with more to say soon enough.”
She also expressed heartfelt gratitude for the “outpouring of love and well wishes” from her fans.
Notably, on April 2, Applegate had posted on Instagram promoting her memoir, announcing that it had become a New York Times Instant #1 Audio Bestseller — and fans had showered that post with love. But as soon as the hospitalization news broke, that same post was flooded with messages of worry and prayers.
On March 31, Applegate’s MeSsy podcast co-host Jamie-Lynn Sigler announced that the show would be going on a brief hiatus — due to both hosts being on book tours. Now that Applegate is in recovery, it remains unclear how the tour and podcast schedule will be affected going forward.
Applegate publicly announced her Multiple Sclerosis (MS) diagnosis in 2021 — and since then, she has been openly sharing her experiences of living with the disease. Despite MS, she completed the final season of Dead to Me — an achievement that was widely praised across the industry.
