Production on Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 2 is already underway in Los Angeles, and the casting news just made things a whole lot more interesting.

Francesca Scorsese — yes, that Scorsese — has officially joined the Season 2 cast as one of the new Jane Smiths on the Prime Video series. And in a move nobody quite saw coming, series co-creator Donald Glover won’t just be in front of the camera this time around — he’s set to direct multiple episodes.

According to Deadline, both Glover and Maya Erskine are believed to be reprising their Season 1 roles as John and Jane Smith — though exactly how much we’ll see of them this season hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Francesca will appear alongside previously announced cast members Mark Eydelshteyn and Talia Ryder, with plot details being kept tightly under wraps.

She’s the daughter of legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese, but she’s been carving out her own path in Hollywood for a while now. You might know her from HBO’s coming-of-age limited series We Are Who We Are, or more recently from the Netflix comedy Roommates and the 2024 Cannes breakout Christmas Eve in Miller’s Point.

She’s also, for the record, extremely TikTok-famous for the videos she makes with her dad.

Season 1 of Mr. & Mrs. Smith racked up 16 Emmy nominations and took home two wins.

Anna Ouyang Moench is stepping in as showrunner for Season 2, with production currently shooting in LA after the show received a $22.4 million tax credit from the California Film Commission.
