The film “Jumanji 3” is now officially titled “Jumanji: Open World.” Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, and Jack Black made the announcement during the closing of Sony’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas — where the first trailer also made its debut.

The trailer opens with a computer repairman, played by Lamorne Morris, arriving at the home of a character portrayed by Marin Hinkle. Inside, he stumbles upon an old video game console. The trailer then cuts to the exterior of a house where supernatural clouds are gathering overhead.

Meanwhile, ostriches are shown charging through the streets of the real world.

From there, the trailer moves to the group of teenagers connected to Jumanji, led by Spencer, played by Alex Wolff. The group also meets Spencer’s grandfather, portrayed by Danny DeVito, at a restaurant.

He leads them to a corner booth where Dwayne Johnson’s game avatar, Dr. Bravestone, is seated — speaking in a Spanish accent.

The trailer also reveals that the Jumanji game has broken into the real world. The avatars of Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan appear — but not in their usual form. They show up in “demo mode,” with Jack Black delivering a line that hints they are not inside Jumanji.

From there, the teenage characters re-enter the game world, where both Jumanji and the real world are at stake.

“Jumanji: Open World” is the third film in Sony’s reimagined series, built to bring the Jumanji concept to a modern audience. Before this, “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” (2017) and “Jumanji: The Next Level” (2019) had already hit theaters.

In those films, Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan played the in-game avatars, while Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, and Ser’Darius Blain were the real-world teens.

The new series draws from the original 1995 film, directed by Joe Johnston and starring Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, and Bonnie Hunt — which followed a supernatural board game that pulls dangerous jungle elements into the real world.

“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” grossed over $962 million worldwide, while “Jumanji: The Next Level” earned more than $801 million globally.

The new film also carries a nod to Robin Williams. According to Dwayne Johnson, it features half of the original Jumanji dice as an Easter egg.

The film is directed by Jake Kasdan, with the screenplay written in collaboration with Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg.

“Jumanji: Open World” is set for a Christmas Day release through Columbia Pictures. The cast includes Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain, Rhys Darby, Nick Jonas, and Danny DeVito.
