Kendrick Lamar’s comedy with “South Park” creators is delayed again, with no new release date announced as producers continue work on the film.

Kendrick Lamar’s highly anticipated comedy film with South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone has been delayed once again — and this time, without a new release date in sight.
The untitled project, produced by Lamar and Dave Free under their company pgLang and by Parker and Stone for Park County, was originally slated to hit theaters on July 4, 2025.
Paramount shifted that date in March, pushing the film to March 20, 2026, citing scheduling conflicts involving Lamar’s co-headlining tour with SZA and the creators’ work on South Park.
In a joint statement, Park County and pgLang acknowledged the delay, saying, “It’s true — we’re moving (again). We’re working hard at finishing the movie.” No replacement date has been announced.
The film’s script was written by writer-producer Vernon Chatman, known for his work on South Park and The Eric Andre Show. While plot details have been tightly guarded, Paramount has expressed strong confidence in the project.
During last year’s CinemaCon, Paramount CEO Brian Robbins described the screenplay as “one of the funniest and most original scripts we’ve ever read,” adding that production was expected to begin over the summer.
The collaboration has drawn major buzz, pairing Lamar’s artistic vision and cultural influence with Parker and Stone’s long-established comedic edge. The trio’s teaming marks one of the most unexpected yet intriguing creative partnerships in recent years.
Parker and Stone, creators of South Park since 1997, remain busy with the show’s ongoing 28th season and additional projects. Their past work includes the cult-favorite film Team America: World Police and the Broadway phenomenon The Book of Mormon.
Meanwhile, Lamar continues to dominate the music world. The rapper headlined the Super Bowl LIX halftime show, won five Grammys in 2025, and recently earned nine more nominations for the 2026 ceremony — the most of any artist.
