Ludacris is no longer part of the 2026 “Rock the Country” tour, and his exit comes after loud fan backlash over the festival’s political associations.

While the event bills itself as a pro-America music celebration, it has increasingly been viewed as closely tied to MAGA culture — something many of the rapper’s longtime fans weren’t comfortable with.

The controversy started earlier this week when the festival’s poster began circulating online, listing Ludacris and Nelly alongside country stars like Kid Rock and Jason Aldean, both known for their outspoken conservative views.

Almost immediately, social media lit up with criticism, with fans questioning whether Ludacris was aligning himself with a movement that doesn’t reflect his past messages or audience.

Although “Rock the Country” doesn’t openly promote a political platform, The New York Times previously described the tour as resembling “Trump rallies in party mode,” a label that has followed the event since its first run in 2024. That reputation only fueled the backlash.

By Friday, January 16, Ludacris’ name had quietly disappeared from the lineup. A representative for the festival later confirmed to Rolling Stone that he was no longer participating. According to the rapper’s team, the situation was simply a misunderstanding.

“There was a mix-up,” his rep said, adding that “lines got crossed and he wasn’t supposed to be on there.”

Unlike Ludacris, Nelly remains on the bill. The rapper performed during the tour’s inaugural year and also appeared at Donald Trump’s inauguration last year. After facing criticism at the time, Nelly defended his decision, saying his performance was about patriotism, not politics.

The 2026 tour is still moving forward with a stacked lineup that includes Jason Aldean, Jelly Roll, Blake Shelton, and Miranda Lambert, all set to headline various stops across the country.

For many fans, Ludacris’ exit feels like a move to protect his legacy and stay aligned with the diverse audience that helped build his career. As one fan put it online: “This just doesn’t fit who Ludacris has always been.”
