Megan Thee Stallion appeared to fight back tears during her Broadway performance of “Moulin Rouge!” and this all went down just hours after news of her split from Klay Thompson broke.
The Houston rapper hit the stage Saturday night (April 25, 2026) like she always does, but when the crowd erupted in cheers for her at the end of the show, Megan was clearly overcome with emotion — briefly pausing the performance.
In video circulating online, Megan looks visibly choked up … she paused for a moment, turned her back to the crowd to wipe away tears, then pulled herself together and pushed through to the end of the show. The background dancers quietly showed their support too — nodding behind her before she turned back around to deliver her final bow.
Worth noting — Megan had actually skipped the 2 PM matinee earlier that same Saturday. Standby actor Patrick Clanton stepped in to play Zidler in her place. The emotional evening performance came after that.
The raw moment on stage came right after Megan confirmed she and Klay were done. Earlier, she had posted on her Instagram Stories — “Cheating, had me around your whole family playing house… got cold feet. Holding you down through all your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season now you don’t know if you can be ‘monogamous’???? b—h I need a REAL break after this one… bye yall.” — a pretty clear shot at the NBA star for cheating.

Megan then followed up with an official statement through her rep — “I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay. Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward. I’m taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity.”
And honestly, their love story felt like a movie while it lasted. The two started dating in summer 2025 — Megan herself called it “a meet cute” and described Klay as “the nicest person I’ve ever met in my life.” They made their red carpet debut together in NYC in July 2025. This isn’t even the first time “Moulin Rouge!” has been a tough road for Megan either. Back on March 31, 2026, she fell ill mid-performance and had to be rushed to the hospital. She later opened up to fans saying — “I’ve been pushing myself past my limits, running on empty, and my body finally said enough. It honestly scared me.”
For context — Megan has been in the cast since March 2026, playing Harold Zidler in the Tony Award-winning production. It’s a gender-swapped role, and she made history as the first woman to play Zidler since the show opened back in June 2019. This is also her Broadway debut. Her run wraps up on May 17, 2026.
