Olivia Rodrigo announces her third album “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love,” set for release on June 12 via Geffen Records.

Olivia Rodrigo has announced her new album, “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love,” which will be released on June 12 via Geffen Records.
The singer shared the news on Instagram, which she wiped ahead of the announcement. She wrote, “My third album ‘you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love’ is out June 12th. I am so proud of this record and I can’t wait for you to hear it. Available for preorder now.” The post also included the album cover, which shows Rodrigo upside-down on a swing.
Rodrigo recorded the album with producer Dan Nigro, with whom she also worked on her first two albums, Sour and Guts. Not much is known about the album yet, but she has teased it over the past month.
Fans noticed changes in the background colors of her website and her “OR” logo, which also appeared on a mural in Los Angeles and on a lock found in London with the word “April” inside.
In an interview with British Vogue last month, Rodrigo spoke about the process behind the new record, describing it as a “creative challenge to write from a joyful place.” She explained that when you feel connected to someone or are in a good place, you are not in your head thinking about bittersweet ideas. She also shared three songs, which were described as cinematic and intimate.
Rodrigo said they are all “sad love songs,” adding that her favorite romantic songs often include a sense of fear or longing.
Rodrigo first rose to fame in 2021 with her album Sour and its hit single Driver’s License. She followed it with Guts in 2023, and last year performed at music festivals including Governors Ball and Glastonbury.
