Australian model-actress Ruby Rose has come out with serious allegations against pop star Perry Perry in a series of Threads posts on April 12, claiming Perry sexually assaulted her at a Melbourne nightclub when she was in her early 20s. In it, Rose described a night out with Perry during which she drunkenly vomited on Perry’s foot — and credited the embarrassing incident as a turning point in her decision to get sober. The essay, written 15 years before her current allegations, has raised hard questions about the consistency of her account.
In the resurfaced piece, Rose described attending a party with Perry and intending to have “just one drink” before losing control entirely. She wrote at the time that “nothing horrific happened” that evening — a statement that sits squarely against the graphic assault she now alleges took place during what appears to be the same encounter. Perry’s legal team will almost certainly use this essay as a primary line of defense if the case moves forward.
On April 15, Victoria Police officially confirmed to both the Sydney Morning Herald and the Herald Sun that they are investigating a historical sexual assault allegedly occurring in Melbourne in August 2010. Rose stated she has filed a formal police report, and in a Threads post on April 14, she announced: “As of this afternoon, I have finalized all of my reports.” She added that per police guidance, she is no longer able to speak publicly about the case or the individuals involved.
The former manager of Melbourne’s Spice Market nightclub, where the alleged incident took place, sat down with the Herald Sun this week. The ex-manager confirmed that both women arrived together that night and were drinking heavily, but stated: “I wasn’t aware of any alleged assault or someone vomiting.” The source also noted that a private car and driver were arranged to help both women exit discreetly and avoid being photographed.
The allegations arrive at a particularly sensitive moment for Perry, who has been coming off a strong run with her Las Vegas residency and a high-profile global tour. Brand partnerships, streaming deals, and future project announcements could all take a hit if the investigation picks up steam.
Rose, best known for her breakout role on Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black, has kept a lower industry profile in recent years. Still, her decision to go public — and subsequently involve law enforcement — makes clear she has no intention of backing down.
With Rose now under police-advised communication restrictions and Perry’s team holding a hard denial line, the next major development will almost certainly come from Victorian law enforcement. Rose has publicly dared Perry to sue her, insisting she has photographic evidence and multiple eyewitnesses. Perry’s camp has not signaled any immediate plans for civil litigation.
