The final season of “The Boys” promises chaos as Homelander tightens his grip on power and Butcher prepares a deadly plan.

The world of The Boys is heading toward its most explosive chapter yet.
The newly released trailer for the show’s fifth and final season reveals a grim future where Homelander appears closer than ever to absolute power — even sitting inside the White House in chilling new footage.
The upcoming season will premiere April 8 on Amazon Prime Video with its first two episodes. The story will then build toward the series finale on May 20, marking the end of one of streaming’s most brutal and unpredictable superhero dramas.
According to the official synopsis, the world now belongs to Homelander. With the political system bending to his will, the powerful Supe is free to rule however he pleases.
Meanwhile, the group that once tried to stop him has been shattered.
Hughie, Mother’s Milk and Frenchie are being held inside what’s described as a “Freedom Camp,” leaving few allies on the outside. Annie January, also known as Starlight, is attempting to organize resistance against an overwhelming army of Supes.
Kimiko’s whereabouts remain unknown.
Then there’s Billy Butcher.
After disappearing earlier, Butcher resurfaces with a terrifying plan. Armed with a virus capable of wiping Supes off the planet, he sets off a chain of events that could change the world forever — if it doesn’t destroy everything first.
The stakes feel even higher following the events of Season 4, which ended in July 2024. In that finale, a newly elected U.S. president declared martial law and effectively placed Homelander in charge, tightening the Supe’s grip on the country.
The cast returning for the final season includes Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty and Jensen Ackles, among others.
The series, created by Eric Kripke and based on the comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, expanded its universe with the spin-off Gen V — which also connects to the final storyline.
With Homelander chasing something even bigger — possibly immortality — the final season promises a bloody showdown where no one is guaranteed to survive.
