‘The Forsytes’ Teaser: PBS Masterpiece Unveils First Look At Season 2

Right on the heels of Sunday’s Season 1 finale, Masterpiece PBS has dropped the first look at the upcoming second season of The Forsytes.
Season 2 is set to premiere next year on Masterpiece on PBS, with Richard Rankin (Outlander, Rebus), Sarah Alexander (Pennyworth, Jonathan Creek) and Nia Ashi (Bob Marley: One Love) joining the cast. They’re coming aboard alongside BAFTA winner Francesca Annis (Lillie), who plays the formidable matriarch Ann, with Danny Griffin as Jo Forsyte, Tuppence Middleton as Frances Forsyte, Eleanor Tomlinson as Louisa Byrne, Joshua Orpin as Soames Forsyte, Millie Gibson as Irene Forsyte, Stephen Moyer as Jolyon Forsyte Sr. and Jack Davenport as James Forsyte all returning.
Season 2 kicked off filming in Bristol, UK back in June 2025, with additional shoots taking place in Wales and Italy. Story-wise, the proud Forsyte dynasty steps into a whole new chapter — one where fresh scandal, raw ambition and shifting loyalties start cracking the family’s polished image wide open.

Based on John Galsworthy’s Nobel Prize-winning novel The Forsyte Saga, The Forsytes is a sweeping portrait of a wealthy British family in 1880s London. Worth noting — the series actually depicts events that take place before Galsworthy’s original novels even begin. Per the official logline: Desire, ambition and betrayal simmer at the heart of The Forsytes, which chronicles the lives, loves, trials and triumphs of a wealthy Victorian-era stockbroking family whose generations find themselves torn between tradition and self-sacrifice versus personal happiness and the pursuit of love.
This marks the third television adaptation of The Forsyte Saga — the first aired on BBC in 1967 and the second came from ITV in 2002. What makes this version stand out is that it’s a rare British production that was directly commissioned by an American network, PBS. UK critics are already calling it “your new TV addiction,” and PBS has positioned the show as essential viewing for fans of Bridgerton, The Gilded Age and Downton Abbey.
“The Forsytes” was renewed back in March for a third season — before Season 1 even premiered.
The series is produced by Mammoth Screen. Debbie Horsfield (Poldark) penned the adaptation. Executive producers are Horsfield, Meenu Gaur, Michael Ray and Damien Timmer for Mammoth Screen, part of ITV Studios, with Susanne Simpson executive producing for Masterpiece.
