Sam Reid’s cover of Billy Idol’s iconic “Dancing With Myself” is now streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. The track marks the third official single from AMC‘s upcoming series The Vampire Lestat, underscoring the show’s sweeping musical ambitions ahead of its premiere.
The single is part of a series that is technically the third season of Interview with the Vampire — rechristened The Vampire Lestat in honor of Anne Rice’s source novel. Reid’s Lestat De Lioncourt steps into the role of the world’s first immortal rock star, headlining an electrifying multi-city tour while haunted by muses from his rebellious past.
Two singles have already preceded it — “All Fall Down,” which plays over the opening titles, and “Long Face” — both featuring original music and lyrics by composer Daniel Hart and performed by Reid. “Dancing With Myself” adds a sharp, classic-rock edge to the show’s growing soundtrack.
Hart, who has been collaborating with showrunner Rolin Jones since 2021, steps into his most central role yet this season. The two worked side by side in the writers room — with Hart co-writing one episode — producing more than 20 original songs for Lestat to perform. Hart also serves as Musical Director for the onscreen band that Lestat fronts in Season 3.
Hart’s musical pedigree runs deep. He built his career on the road as a hired gun for acts including St. Vincent, Broken Social Scene, Other Lives, and The Polyphonic Spree, and has fronted his own outfit, Dark Rooms, since 2013.
“Lestat is a character who lives on stage — his voice needs to be something that can shake an entire arena,” an AMC insider said of the project’s musical vision.
The latest trailer for the series features Reid performing “Dancing With Myself” in full rock-star mode, generating significant buzz online. The pairing of casting and original music signals AMC’s intent to elevate The Vampire Lestat beyond prestige horror drama into a full-blown cultural event.
The series is executive produced by Mark Johnson, creator, writer and showrunner Rolin Jones, Hannah Moscovitch, Christopher Rice, and the late Anne Rice. As the cornerstone of Rice’s Immortal Universe on AMC, the franchise has grown into one of the network’s signature properties — and this season, music is its most powerful weapon.
