In a recent episode of The Daily Show, comedian and host Jon Stewart sharply criticized President Donald Trump.
The dispute started when Donald Trump posted an image on his social media platform, Truth Social — which he later deleted. The image showed Trump in a role associated with Jesus Christ, appearing to heal a sick man.
When a reporter asked Trump whether he had posted the image portraying himself as Jesus, he responded:
“Yes, I posted it, and I thought it was me as a doctor.”
On his show, Jon Stewart mocked this explanation. He put the image up for his audience and zeroed in on the sick man lying in the bed.
Stewart joked that the man looked just like him. He said:
“I know I don’t have the energy I had during my MTV days, but I didn’t think we had reached this point.”

He went on to say that, based on the image, his condition looked pretty serious — adding humorously that “thank God, I was surrounded by family during that time.”
Stewart also noted that many in the Christian community pushed back hard against Trump’s post. According to him, the backlash was strong enough that Trump felt the need to explain himself.
He sarcastically called Trump’s response an “incredibly plausible cover story.”
Reacting to Trump’s “doctor” explanation, Stewart said:
“Do you even care about lying to us anymore? Is this over? Has this relationship gone stale?”
He added that Trump’s past claims used to have “a certain spark,” but now the best he could offer was: “No, I wasn’t Jesus, I’m a doctor.”
The whole episode puts a spotlight on a social media post, the backlash it triggered, and the explanation that came after. Through satire, Jon Stewart called out Trump’s statement and the reaction it drew.
