A beloved country star turns lifelong devotion to kids into a lasting legacy as a Tennessee hospital proudly takes her name.

For decades, Dolly Parton has poured her time, money and heart into helping children grow up with hope. Now, that love is being honored in a lasting way.
The long-standing East Tennessee Children’s Hospital has officially been renamed the Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital, a tribute to the singer’s deep commitment to families across her home state of Tennessee.
In a heartfelt video message announcing the change, Parton spoke about her lifelong belief that every child deserves the chance to grow up healthy and surrounded by love.
She praised the hospital’s staff for seeing children not simply as patients, but as precious lives with bright futures.
The hospital, located in Knoxville, first opened its doors in 1937. Today, the 152-bed medical center is recognized as one of the state’s four comprehensive regional pediatric centers.
It provides advanced care for seriously ill children and also partners with smaller hospitals to expand pediatric training and services throughout the region.
For Parton, supporting children is nothing new. Through her beloved theme park, Dollywood, and her literacy program, Imagination Library, she has long invested in the well-being and education of young people.
The hospital renaming feels like a natural extension of that mission.
Hospital leaders say this moment is about more than simply placing a famous name on a building. It represents a shared promise to families.
“This is more than a name change,” said Matt Schaefer, president and CEO of the newly named Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital.
With Parton’s support, he explained, the hospital aims to strengthen its commitment to delivering world-class pediatric care and ensuring that every child who walks through its doors receives the treatment and compassion they deserve.
For families across Tennessee, the new name stands as a powerful symbol — one that blends hometown pride, star power and a simple but profound belief: when a community comes together for its children, anything is possible.
