NBC is set to air the pilot episode of the crime drama series “M.I.A.” as a special telecast. The episode will air on May 14 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

The telecast comes one week after the series is released on the streaming platform Peacock. “M.I.A.” will debut on Peacock on May 7 with all episodes released at once.

The show skipped the pilot process, landing a straight-to-series pickup in 2024. It has been created by Ozark co-creator Bill Dubuque.

The story centers on a young woman named Etta Tiger Jonze, played by Shannon Gisela. Living in the Florida Keys, she dreams of a glamorous life in Miami.

Everything changes when her family’s drug-running business collapses following a tragic incident. After this, Etta sets out on a dangerous journey that forces her to find out who she really is — and what she’ll do to survive.

In the Season 1 trailer, most of Etta’s family is killed. She sets her sights on revenge against those responsible, who are also searching for her.

During this journey, she is joined by her new friends, Lovely and Stanley. The two characters represent Miami’s Latino and Haitian communities.

The series also features Cary Elwes, Danay Garcia, Brittany Adebumola, Dylan Jackson, Alberto Guerra, Maurice Compte, Gerardo Celasco and Marta Milans.

Bill Dubuque is executive producer and writer, while Karen Campbell pulls triple duty as writer, executive producer and showrunner.

Directing credits go to Alethea Jones, Gwyneth Horder-Payton, Marizee Almas, Ben Semanoff and John Dahl.

The series is produced by MRC.
