A woman accused of firing multiple shots at Rihanna’s Beverly Hills home now faces attempted murder charges and a possible life sentence.

A quiet Beverly Hills neighborhood was shaken Sunday afternoon after a woman allegedly fired multiple rounds at the home of global music star Rihanna, leading to serious criminal charges that could result in a life prison sentence.
Authorities say 35-year-old Ivanna Ortiz has been charged with 14 felony counts following the March 8 shooting incident. Among the charges is one count of attempted murder, which prosecutors describe in court documents as “willful, deliberate and premeditated.”
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Ortiz is also facing 10 counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and three counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling.
If convicted on all charges, she could spend the rest of her life in state prison.
Prosecutors say the incident unfolded when Ortiz allegedly drove to the Beverly Hills residence shared by Rihanna and her longtime partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, before firing several rounds toward the property.
Eight people were inside the home at the time, including the couple and their three children — sons RZA, 3½, and Riot, 2½, as well as their 6-month-old daughter, Rocki. Rihanna’s mother and two employees were also present during the incident.
Officials said that Ortiz also allegedly fired toward a neighboring home, where two people were inside. Authorities have not yet determined where each bullet landed.
Despite the frightening situation, no one was physically injured.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman strongly condemned the shooting, emphasizing the danger of gun violence in residential neighborhoods.
“Opening fire in any populated neighborhood is extremely dangerous and puts lives at risk,” Hochman said in a statement. “Thankfully no one was injured, but this careless violence will not be tolerated.”
Ortiz was arrested shortly after the shooting in the nearby neighborhood of Sherman Oaks. Her bail has been set at $1,875,000.
She appeared briefly in court Tuesday wearing a blue inmate uniform, speaking with her attorney through a glass partition. Deputy Public Defender Jamarcus Bradford initially entered a not-guilty plea on her behalf before withdrawing it ahead of her formal arraignment.
The arraignment is scheduled for March 25.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Public Defender’s Office confirmed the agency is representing Ortiz but declined to discuss the allegations, noting that the case is still pending before the court.
Meanwhile, investigators are still trying to understand what may have motivated the alleged attack. Authorities have not confirmed any personal connection between Ortiz and Rihanna.
However, social media posts from a Facebook profile appearing to belong to Ortiz include references to the singer, including a message posted in February urging Rihanna to “say something to me directly.”
Law enforcement has not said whether those posts are connected to the case.
For Rihanna and her family, the experience was reportedly frightening. A source close to the situation said the moment was “terrifying,” but everyone inside the home was relieved that no one was harmed.
The case now moves forward in court, where prosecutors say the seriousness of the charges reflects the danger posed by gunfire in a crowded neighborhood.
