Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse was presented with its first footage at CinemaCon, where the story of Miles Morales keeps going.

The story picks up right where Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse ended. Miles is shown trapped in another dimension, surrounded by alternate versions of himself along with his Uncle Aaron.

Turns out, in this new universe, Miles G. Morales is not Spider-Man but the Prowler. Miles is seen tied to a punching bag while being interrogated, as his alternate version appears on the ceiling above him. He jumps down and introduces himself to Spider-Man Miles.

Miles tries to explain that he needs to return to his original universe to save his father’s life.

Things escalate fast — it doesn’t stay civil for long — and quickly turns into a physical confrontation. Miles uses his electric venom power to free himself, leading to a fight against Prowler Miles and his uncle. In the chaos, allies from the previous films show up to back him.

These include Spider-Gwen, Spider-Ham, Spider-Noir, Peter B. Parker, and Spider-Punk. Oh, and two new faces pop up — driving a getaway van across a rising bridge.

This one wraps up Miles’ full three-movie run. “Across the Spider-Verse” ended on a cliffhanger, with the fate of his family depending on how he navigates the multiverse. Getting here took way longer than anyone planned.

The film was originally scheduled for release in 2024, but it was removed from the release calendar due to the actors’ strike, which halted voice recording work, plus the animation on these films just takes forever. It is now set to release in theaters on June 18, 2027.

The film is directed by Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson, with a screenplay written by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller alongside David Callaham. According to the filmmakers, this one is the final chapter of Miles’ story and they’re calling it the biggest and most emotional “Spider-Verse” film to date.

Shameik Moore returns as the voice of Miles. The cast also includes Hailee Steinfeld, Greta Lee, Jason Schwartzman, Karan Soni, Daniel Kaluuya, Nicolas Cage, and Jake Johnson.
