“Avatar: Fire and Ash” crosses $450M worldwide in just one week, with strong momentum heading into the busy Christmas box office stretch.

James Cameron’s return to Pandora is already paying off in a big way.
“Avatar: Fire and Ash” has crossed $450 million at the global box office after just one week in theaters, setting the stage for a strong run through the lucrative Christmas holiday season.
The third installment in the blockbuster franchise has earned $119 million domestically and an impressive $331 million overseas, showing once again that the “Avatar” brand remains a worldwide powerhouse.
On Tuesday alone, the film pulled in $16.5 million in North America and $34.3 million internationally, signaling steady momentum heading into one of the busiest moviegoing periods of the year.
Industry analysts say those midweek numbers point to a solid holiday performance. “Avatar: Fire and Ash” is currently projected to bring in $75 million to $80 million over the four-day Christmas frame, which would likely be enough to keep it in the No. 1 spot at the domestic box office.

The film will face some fresh competition, but none of it arrives until Christmas Eve. New releases entering the mix include A24’s Timothée Chalamet-led sports dramedy “Marty Supreme,” Focus Features’ musical drama “Song Sung Blue,” and Sony’s disaster comedy “Anaconda.” Because those films open on Christmas Eve, studios won’t report their first box office numbers until Christmas Day.

Meanwhile, Disney continues to dominate theaters this holiday season. “Zootopia 2” remains a box office juggernaut, having already earned $1.3 billion worldwide, including a staggering $993 million overseas.
The animated sequel has long surpassed the 2016 original and is on track to become only the second animated film ever to cross $1 billion internationally, following “Inside Out 2.”
Thanks to hits like “Zootopia 2” and “Lilo & Stitch,” Disney recently reached another major milestone, surpassing $6 billion in global ticket sales for the first time since the pandemic.
The studio has now achieved that feat five times in history, cementing its dominance at the global box office as 2025 heads into its final stretch.
