When a mysterious billboard appeared on Sunset Boulevard earlier this week, it showed nothing but a diamond necklace spelling out “4.9.26.” No logo. No explanation. Just sparkle and a date.

Now the mystery is solved: it was the first clue for “Big Mistakes,” the upcoming crime comedy from Dan Levy, which will premiere April 9 on Netflix.

The streamer unveiled the show’s first trailer alongside the release date, revealing a chaotic story centered on two siblings who stumble their way into the criminal underworld.

Levy stars as Nicky opposite Taylor Ortega as Morgan, a pair of deeply unqualified siblings whose attempt to steal something for their dying grandmother goes spectacularly wrong.

Instead of helping their family, they accidentally cross paths with organized crime. From there, things spiral quickly.

Blackmailed into carrying out increasingly risky assignments, the siblings repeatedly fail—but somehow keep landing deeper in the chaos rather than escaping it.

The cast also includes Laurie Metcalf, Abby Quinn, Boran Kuzum, Jack Innanen, Elizabeth Perkins, Mark Ivanir, Ilia Volok, Jacob Gutierrez, Joe Barbara and Darren Goldstein.

The unusual marketing campaign mirrored the show’s messy heist theme. After the cryptic billboard appeared, Netflix shared an augmented-reality clip showing the necklace being “stolen” straight off the ad.

Soon after, selfies surfaced on the streamer’s social channels showing several cast members wearing the same necklace, playfully revealing themselves as the fictional culprits behind the theft.

The stunt set the stage for the trailer drop and official premiere announcement.

“Big Mistakes” marks Levy’s first series under his overall television deal with Netflix. It is also his second original scripted project since the global success of Schitt’s Creek, the Emmy-winning comedy that made Levy a household name.

Levy previously partnered with the streamer for the 2023 film Good Grief, which he wrote, directed and starred in.

For the new series, Levy co-created the show with Rachel Sennott and serves as showrunner. Anne-Marie McGintee executive produces for Not a Real Production Company alongside Dean Holland, Etan Frankel and Timothy Greenberg.

If the trailer is any indication, the series leans into awkward comedy and escalating disasters—suggesting that in this world, even the worst criminals might succeed purely by accident.
